If you appreciate great food like we do at Htel, then let me tell you, this is going to be a great autumn. There are multiple culinary events in Amsterdam the upcoming 2 weeks that offer an excellent combination with your short stay in Amsterdam.
Amsterdam offers a tremendous variety of different cuisines, which is represented by plenty of restaurants throughout the city. At the below events you’ll find a quality culinary selection of everything Amsterdam has to offer.
Taste of Amsterdam
From 22 till 25 September you’ll find the food festival in the Amstelpark called Taste of Amsterdam. Taste is an event that is held throughout many of the most attractive cities worldwide, from Melbourne to New York and from Cape Town to Milan. And now we’ll have a four day fall-edition in Amsterdam. Here are some highlights to expect during this event.
Starting off with the drinks, there will be a wine theatre and a beer theatre. Taste sample wines and learn where they were grown or what food creates wonderful combinations. For beer fans, try the finest beer and cheese combinations. Or go crazy, and try the combination of for example beer and chocolate.
At the event there are also plenty of opportunities to learn more about cooking should that hold your interest. You’ll find chefs on stage showing you what they do best, and they’ll demonstrate the finest of cooking techniques. Alternatively you can follow workshops where top chefs will teach you hands on how to become a better cook.
And as if the above is not enough, here’s what else you can expect:
- 12 top restaurants will provide small menus with their top selections
- The foodie market, that has an unusual selection of gourmet products
- A small producers market, specialists in specific product lines allow you to taste, try and listen to the story behind they have to offer
- S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna. Indeed, water and wine, from a water bar. And the newest sparkling fruit beverages
- The Sopranos Piano Bar, for live entertainment

This event is organized not far from our Htel Amsterdam location. The Amstelpark is located at 1,5 kilometers distance our Amsterdam property, so don’t miss out on this event!
Restaurant week
Obviously, having seen the previous, you want more now! Lucky you, right after this event the Amsterdam Restaurant Week takes off. From the 26th of September till the 2nd of October the many of the high-class restaurants of the Netherlands serve gastronomic dishes for small prices!
Around 133 participating restaurants in Amsterdam will provide you with three course dinners for EUR 27,50 or a three course lunch for EUR 22,50.
To give you an idea about what to expect, restaurants like the 2 Michelin star restaurant Ron Blaauw participate, and you’ll find five restaurants of our own top 10 list. Restaurants with Michelin stars will charge EUR 10 more per star, obviously, still more than worth going!
